Dexter Brim/Assistant Principal

Dexter Brim is a dedicated educator and lifelong resident of Canton, Mississippi, who has devoted over a decade to shaping young minds through the study of history. With 11 years of teaching experience, Mr. Brim has earned a reputation for excellence in education, unwavering commitment to student success, and a passion for his community.
"I am honored to join the administration team at Nichols Middle School, the very school I once attended as a student. Serving in this capacity is not only a professional milestone but also a deeply personal privilege. I am proud to give back to the community that shaped me and to help lead the next generation of learners with dedication, heart, and a deep sense of purpose," says Brim.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education and a Master’s degree in Education from Jackson State University. Further advancing his expertise, he earned a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
Throughout his career, Mr. Brim has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to education. He has received numerous accolades, including being named Star Teacher and earning the prestigious Teacher of the Year award in 2019, 2022, and 2024. In addition, he was formally recognized for significantly improving student proficiency on the U.S. History assessment—an accomplishment that reflects both his instructional strength and his belief in his students’ potential.
Mr. Brim lives by the motto, “All students are capable of learning,” a philosophy that he says guides his approach in the classroom and now in his leadership role.
